Sunday Reflections- Blue-Footed Boobies

I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree” by Joyce Kilmer

The LaHipChic thinks that goes for blue-footed boobies as well. Still...

Blue-footed Boobie

Does God not have a sense of humor?
He did just create this late bloomer.
He took some of this and he took some of that.
Some blue from the sky, the chest of a duck.
Some wings of a feather with a little less cluck,
He placed the young thing on an island rich,
with other odd beaks and feathery freaks;
To which He has granted the adventurous few,
A marvelous wonder in which to view.

He drove in our hearts, the hope to protect,
these unusual creatures;
As He calls on us all, to protect big or small
'One another', no matter how odd,
Or outrageous we seem,
We are part of God's plan,
We are part of his scheme,
A mural as yet, unfinished.

In his own image!
We help with the mural,
giving a name to the one or the plural,
like the blue-footed boobie
Or the trapezoid square,
He's given us thought to create in His care,
A bonzai from his beautiful tree.
Our Gift? Him in you...
In me.

  1. That's consistent with my grandmother's definition of the term. When she said "Don't be a big booby!" She meant don't be a "Big Ole Weird Bird".
